Terms of Service
Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Polyforge. By accessing or using our website, you agree to be bound by these terms.
Effective: March 2026Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Polyforge (https://polyforge.xyz), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this site.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Polyforge ("we", "us", or "our") governing your use of our browser-based 3D file conversion and optimization tools.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to this page with an updated "Effective" date. Your continued use of Polyforge after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Description of Service
Polyforge provides free, browser-based tools for:
- 3D file format conversion between formats such as GLB, GLTF, OBJ, FBX, STL, PLY, USDZ, and others.
- 3D file optimization to reduce file size through mesh decimation, texture compression, geometry quantization, and other techniques.
All processing occurs entirely within your web browser. Your files are never uploaded to any server. Polyforge is a static website that provides client-side JavaScript tools; there is no backend server processing your files.
The service is provided free of charge.
Eligibility
You may use Polyforge if you:
- Are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
- Are not prohibited from using the service under applicable laws.
Polyforge does not require account registration, login, or any personal information to use. By using the service, you represent that you meet the above eligibility requirements.
Permitted Use
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use Polyforge for lawful purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may:
- Upload and convert 3D files for personal, educational, or commercial purposes.
- Use the optimization tools to reduce file sizes for any lawful purpose.
- Share links to Polyforge with others.
You retain all ownership rights to your files. Because your files never leave your device and are never transmitted to us, we have no access to, claim to, or interest in your files or their contents.
Prohibited Use
When using Polyforge, you agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
- Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the website's infrastructure, such as servers, networks, or security features.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the website's source code beyond what is permitted by applicable law.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the service in a manner that places undue load on our infrastructure.
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security-related features of the website.
- Introduce malware, viruses, or any other harmful code through the website.
- Impersonate Polyforge or create derivative services that could be confused with Polyforge.
- Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices on the website.
- Use the service to process files that you do not have the right to use, convert, or modify.
Intellectual Property
a) Our Intellectual Property
The Polyforge website, including its design, layout, graphics, logos, icons, text, software, and all other content (excluding user-uploaded files), is owned by or licensed to Polyforge and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, or otherwise exploit any of our content without our prior written consent, except as expressly permitted by these Terms.
b) Your Files
You retain all rights to the 3D files you process using Polyforge. We do not claim any ownership, license, or rights over your files. Since your files are processed entirely in your browser and never transmitted to us, we have no ability to access, view, store, or use your files in any way.
c) Open-Source Components
Polyforge uses various open-source libraries in its client-side tools. These components are subject to their respective open-source licenses. Our use of open-source components does not grant you any rights beyond those provided by the applicable open-source licenses.
Disclaimers & Warranty Limitations
Polyforge is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including:
- Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- Accuracy of conversions. We strive for faithful file conversions, but we cannot guarantee that converted or optimized files will be complete or suitable for any particular purpose. 3D file formats vary in complexity, and some data (such as material properties, animations, or metadata) may not transfer perfectly between formats.
- Availability. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the website.
- Compatibility. We do not guarantee that the service will work with all browsers, devices, or operating systems.
You also acknowledge that:
- 3D file conversion is complex, and results may vary depending on the source file.
- You should keep a backup of your original files before converting or optimizing them.
- It is your responsibility to verify any output before using it in production or distributing it.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Polyforge and its operators, affiliates, and contributors shall not be liable for any:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, such as loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
- Damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the service; errors or losses in file conversion or optimization; unauthorized access to your transmissions or data; third-party content on the website; or any other matter relating to the service.
- Direct damages exceeding the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months before the claim (which, given that the service is free, is zero).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory behind the claim, whether contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or otherwise, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Polyforge and its operators, affiliates, and contributors from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the service in violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights.
- Your use of files that you do not have the right to convert, modify, or distribute.
- Any dispute between you and a third party relating to files processed using Polyforge.
Third-Party Links & Services
Polyforge may contain links to websites, services, or resources operated by third parties. These links are provided for convenience only. We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of external websites.
Examples include:
- Links to open-source library documentation or repositories.
- Links referenced in our Privacy Policy (such as analytics provider policies).
Your interaction with any external website is governed by that site's own terms and policies. We recommend reviewing the terms and privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
Termination
We reserve the right to restrict or terminate your access to Polyforge at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including:
- Violation of these Terms.
- Conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.
- Technical or security reasons.
Because Polyforge does not require accounts or store user data, "termination" in practice means blocking access to the website (e.g., via IP-based restrictions). Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.
All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnification, and limitations of liability.
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Polyforge will be resolved as follows:
a) Informal Resolution
Before filing any formal legal action, you agree to first contact us at legal@polyforge.xyz and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will make reasonable efforts to resolve the matter within 30 days.
b) Binding Arbitration
If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, you agree that it will be resolved through binding arbitration, except for disputes that qualify for small claims court. The arbitration shall be conducted in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA).
c) Class Action Waiver
You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis only, and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action. If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than in arbitration, you waive any right to a jury trial.
Severability & Waiver
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable or invalid by a court, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if modification is not possible, it will be severed. The remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver of any term is only effective if in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Polyforge.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other legal notices or policies published on Polyforge, constitute the entire agreement between you and Polyforge regarding your use of the service and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms of Service as needed. When we make changes:
- The "Effective" date at the top of this page will be updated.
- For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (such as a prominent notice on the website).
- Continued use of Polyforge after the revised Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using Polyforge. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
